CSR & Sustainability

Committed to a Greener Future

Nestled in the hill country of Kandy, where culture, heritage, environment, and people coincide, Kings Pavilion delicately weaves sustainability into the fibres of our ethos, bringing you a delicately conscious luxurious stay.

Energy Efficiency & Conservation
We are deeply focused on reducing our environmental impact through smart energy usage and rigorous conservation strategies across Kings Pavilion. As a premier Kandy nature resort, we are conscious of our electricity usage and integrate comprehensive energy conservation strategies into all operations, starting with investing in energy-efficient equipment, goods, and services such as 100% LED lighting and modern appliances. Furthermore, we optimize usage by carefully allocating room bookings to reduce unnecessary consumption in unoccupied areas. This commitment extends to factoring energy efficiency and environmental concerns into every business decision and enhancing energy performance through innovative design. Crucially, we ensure our team shares this commitment by providing appropriate training to raise awareness on energy conservation among all associates.
Waste Management
Dedicated to Eliminating Plastic: We have carefully curated our operations to remove as much plastic as possible, ensuring your stay is not only luxurious but treads lightly on the environment.
Diligent Recycling: All waste is carefully segregated prior to disposal to ensure the effective recycling of collected materials.
Eco-Conscious Transport
We utilize a hybrid van for all hotel logistics, including guest transfers and operational work, actively reducing our carbon footprint.
Supporting Local Economy & Artisans
Sustainable Dining: We celebrate Sri Lanka's tropical abundance by prioritizing sourcing fresh produce directly handpicked from local farmers' markets and are actively expanding our plant-based and vegan menu options.
Showcasing Local Artistry: From the artisanal handmade soap we provide to the rich artwork showcased throughout our property, we are proud to support and highlight the local craftspeople and rich artistry of our island, reflected throughout our property and the experiences we offer.
Protecting Our Natural Ecosystem
We have diligently recognized and actively protect the rich biodiversity that resides within our facility. An analysis of our property found it is a haven for an expansive range of flora and fauna, including:
  • 44 species of birds
  • 36 species of butterflies
  • 10 species of reptiles
  • 3 species of land snails
We are dedicated to safeguarding this natural habitat for both our guests and our biodiversity visitors
Community Empowerment (TEG Group)
Kings Pavilion is proud to be part of the TEG Group, our parent company, with whom we share a collective dedication to community empowerment. Through this partnership, Kings Pavilion extends TEG’s social responsibility mission via our group outreach programs
1. TEG English and IT Academy Inaugurated in 2011 (English) and 2013 (IT), our Academy provides free, high-quality education in English proficiency and IT skills to students in local communities. The program is designed to transcend local education limits by promoting critical thinking, innovation, and adaptability, preparing students for success in the global community.
  • Program Goal: To provide essential global skills that empower marginalized communities and enhance individual life opportunities.
  • Our Impact: The academy has grown steadily, supporting 331 students in 2023 and expanding to 360 students in 2024 across various grade levels. Alumni have gone on to fill positions within the TEG Group and beyond.

2. Anagathaya Wavamu – "Grow Your Future" Launched in 2018, this extensive coconut cultivation project aims to distribute 500,000 coconut trees across the island. The initiative directly supports livelihood development, resource sustainability, and national food security by strengthening rural Sri Lankan economies.
  • Key Focus: Providing participants with an additional income source and educating them on proper tree care.
  • Environmental Stewardship: A key component involves engaging children in tree planting, instilling a sense of environmental responsibility in the younger generation.
  • Our Impact: By 2024, a total of 199,618 trees have been distributed, positively impacting multiple regions including Kurunegala, Mullativu, and Ampara. This project continues to reinforce our commitment to community resilience and a greener future.
